Hello. We’re Luke & Alex MacGibbon.
Business Motivation
We launched 90 Degrees Construction in 2016. With the industry booming at this time, it seemed the market was saturated with a lot of qualified builders going out on their own. We saw a few tradies get a shock at just how full on running a business actually is, and how much time gets sucked up off the tools. Luckily we went into this with both eyes open, excited and inspired by what our mash-up of skillsets and passion for the industry could mean.
Entering the high-end market was a no-brainer for us, as Luke’s been in it for the past 15 years. His skillset and passion is very much tuned to working closely and collaboratively with architects and clients to master the art of a beautiful custom build. We think that builders can often forget that building a dream home is likely the biggest personal spend a person will ever make in their lifetime, so as a client they are justified in their high expectations and deserve an incredibly personal, professional, slick service.
Our past experience has given us confidence that we can deliver on the journey we know clients ultimately want.

Our Construction Director is loveable. He can make friends with just about anyone in the industry - even after he’s told them to redo the job to his standards.
We live for detail – whether it be in perfecting interior finishings or presenting information to the client in a clear, user-friendly, beautiful way.

We do our homework - customer research, a solid business plan along with a good marketing strategy - then we walk the talk.
Why choose us
Our mission is to never bite off more than we can chew. By learning to say ‘no’ to jobs, Luke can stay personally involved with his projects and maintain consistency in his high standards and quality finish.
We put our best foot forward right at the beginning with a client and invest a huge amount of time working with them before their plans are even finalised. We are upfront about our contracts and processes and put a lot of effort into presenting things clearly, simply and beautifully. For this reason, we are often upfront in our preference not to tender for work. A client focussed only on cost will never get an apples-for-apples comparison.
We can’t emphasise enough just how important it is to provide all the information a client wants immediately, with no fuss and in ways that can be readily understood. For example, each month, we provide a “infographic” which clearly shows how the costs are tracking against the original estimate.
The way we organise our billing and timesheets online means we have all data at our fingertips and can answer any question quickly.
